Guéthary ( Basque Getaria ) is a French municipality with 1320 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Pyrénées-Atlantiques in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . It is located in the Bayonne arrondissement and is part of the canton of Saint-Jean-de-Luz . The inhabitants are called Getariar .
geography
Guéthary is part of the historic Basque province of Labourd and is located on the Bay of Biscay . Guéthary is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Bidart in the north and east and Saint-Jean-de-Luz in the southwest.
The former Route nationale 10 (today's D810) and the Autoroute A63 lead through the municipality from Bordeaux via Bayonne to San Sebastian .
