Jatxou ( Basque : Jatsu ) is a French municipality with 1,154 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Pyrénées-Atlantiques in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016: Aquitaine ). Larressore belongs to the Arrondissement of Bayonne and the canton of Baïgura et Mondarrain (until 2015: canton of Ustaritz ). The inhabitants are called Jatsuar .
geography
Jatxou is about eleven kilometers south-southeast of Bayonne am Nive in the French Basque Country and the historic Labourd landscape . Jatxou is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Mouguerre in the north, Hasparren in the east, Halsou in the south and southeast, Larressore in the south and southwest and Ustaritz in the west.
