Louhossoa ( Basque Luhuso ) is a French municipality with 887 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Pyrénées-Atlantiques in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . Louhossoa belongs to the Arrondissement of Bayonne and the Canton of Baïgura et Mondarrain (until 2015: Canton Espelette ). The inhabitants are called Luhusoar .
geography
Louhossoa is located about 22 kilometers south-southeast of Bayonne on the Nive (Basque: Errobi ) in the French Basque Country and the historic Labourd landscape . Louhossoa is surrounded by the neighboring communities Macaye in the north and east, Bidarray in the south, Itxassou in the west and Cambo-les-Bains in the northwest.
The former route nationale 132 (today's D918) runs through the municipality .
