Irissarry ( Basque : Irisarri ) is a commune in the French Basque Country with 886 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in Pyrénées-Atlantiques in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Bayonne and the canton of Pays de Bidache, Amikuze et Ostibarre (until 2015: canton of Iholdy ). The inhabitants are called Irisartar .
geography
Irissarry is located about 35 kilometers southeast of Bayonne in the south of the historic province of Basse-Navarre in the western Pyrenees on the Lakako Erreka River . Irissarry is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Hélette in the north, Iholdy in the east and northeast, Suhescun in the southeast, Jaxu in the south and southeast and Ossès in the west and southwest.
