Ahetze is a French commune with 2,158 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Pyrénées-Atlantiques in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . Ahetze belongs to the Arrondissement of Bayonne and the canton of Ustaritz-Vallées de Nive et Nivelle (until 2015: canton of Ustaritz ). The inhabitants are called Aheztars .

geography

Ahetze is located about 15 kilometers south-southwest of Bayonne in the French Basque Country and the historic Labourd countryside . Ahetze is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Bidart in the north and north-west, Arbonne in the north and east, Saint-Pée-sur-Nivelle in the south and Saint-Jean-de-Luz in the west and south-west.

The former route nationale 132 (today's D932) runs through the municipality .
