Ustaritz ( Basque Uztaritze ) is a French commune in the department of Pyrénées-Atlantiques in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . Ustaritz was the capital of the ancient Basque province of Labourd .

The municipality is located about 13 kilometers from Bayonne inland and has 6,822 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017). The river Nive flows through Ustaritz .

Ustaritz is the capital of the canton Ustaritz-Vallées de Nive et Nivelle and was the capital (French: chef-lieu ) of the canton Ustaritz until its dissolution in 2015 .
