history
The villages of Larribar and Sorhapuru were first mentioned in the 12th century. In the Middle Ages , the landlord of Sorhapuru had the right of access to the assembly of estates, as did the two landlord families Ilharre and Picassarry of Larribar. Presumably, both villages had formed a parish until the French Revolution , before the new division of the territories at the beginning of the 19th century separated them again. On May 12, 1842, the former parishes of Larribar and Sorhapuru merged to form the parish of Larribar-Sorhapuru.

Attractions
- Parish Church of Larribar, dedicated to the Assumption . It is located on the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela , which pilgrims take regularly even today. Surrounded by a traditional cemetery with the disk-shaped funerary stelae, called Hilarri , which are characteristic of the Basque Country , the small church has a sober facade from which a square bell tower rises. The entrance is under a low porch. The church preserves a wooden statue in the Gothic style.
- Parish Church of Sorhapuru, consecrated to Martin of Tours . It probably dates from the Middle Ages , which can be seen from the construction of the bell tower. It is a clocher trinitaire , in which the bell gable has three pointed roofs as a symbol for the Trinity , the middle one slightly higher than the other two. If crosses are placed on the pointed roofs, as in the case of this church, they are also called clochers calvaires , because the shape recalls the crucifixion of Jesus Christ with the two thieves on Mount Golgotha . This church is also lined with a cemetery on which there are disc-shaped grave steles, one of which shows the silhouette of a person.
