Villefranque ( Basque Milafranga ) is a French municipality with 2671 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Pyrénées-Atlantiques in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . Villefranque belongs to the Bayonne arrondissement and is part of the canton of Nive-Adour (until 2015: canton of Saint-Pierre-d'Irube ). The inhabitants are called Milafrangar .

geography

Villefranque is located about six kilometers south-southeast of Bayonne on the Nive . Villefranque is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Bayonne in the north and northwest, Saint-Pierre-d'Irube in the north, Mouguerre in the east and northeast, Jatxou in the south and southeast, Ustaritz in the south and southwest and Bassussarry in the west.
