Souraïde ( Basque : Zuraide ) is a commune in the French Basque Country with 1,400 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in Pyrénées-Atlantiques in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Bayonne and the canton of Baïgura et Mondarrain (until 2015: canton of Espelette ). The inhabitants are called Zuraidar .
geography
Souraïde is located about 16 kilometers south of Bayonne in the south of the historic Labourd province in the western Pyrenees . Souraïde is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Ustaritz in the north, Espelette in the east, Ainhoa in the south and Saint-Pée-sur-Nivelle in the west.
