Ayherre ( Basque : Aiherra ) is a French municipality with 2158 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Pyrénées-Atlantiques in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . Ayherre is part of the Bayonne arrondissement and the canton of Pays de Bidache, Amikuze et Ostibarre (until 2015: canton of La Bastide-Clairence ). The inhabitants are called Aihertar .

Ayherre is located about 20 kilometers east-southeast of Bayonne on the Aran in the French Basque Country and the historic landscape of Lower Navarre . Ayherre is surrounded by the neighboring communities of La Bastide-Clairence in the north, Orègue in the east and north-east, Isturits in the east and south-east, Saint-Esteben in the south-east, Hélette in the south, Mendionde in the south-west, Bonloc in the west and south-west and Hasparren in the west and north-west .
