The Joyeuse (also called Aran ) is a river in France that runs in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department , in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region . It rises under the name Ruisseau d'Aïnchartéa in the municipality of Hélette , on the northern flank of Mont Baygoura . The river generally drains north through the French Basque Country and after 48 kilometers flows into the Adour as a left tributary at Urt .

Not to be confused with the Joyeuse river of the same name , which runs in the same region but flows into the Bidouze !
