Ciboure ( Basque : Ziburu ) is a municipality in the department of Pyrénées-Atlantiques in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine , France . It is located opposite the port of Saint-Jean-de-Luz , at the confluence of the Nivelle river .
Ciboure has 6251 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017). In Ciboure there are numerous buildings in the Basque Lapurdi style. The 16th century church - St. Vincent - has an octagonal tower, Basque frescoes and a Basque altar.
