Mouguerre ( Basque Mugerre ) is a French municipality with 5108 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Pyrénées-Atlantiques in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016: Aquitaine ). Mouguerre belongs to the Arrondissement of Bayonne and is the capital of the canton of Nive-Adour (until 2015: municipality in the canton of Saint-Pierre-d'Irube ). The inhabitants are called Mugertar .
geography
The Adour flows on the northern edge of Mouguerre . Mouguerre is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Bayonne in the north and northwest, Lahonce in the east and northeast, Urcuit and Briscous in the east, Hasparren in the southeast, Jatxou in the south, Villefranque in the southwest and Saint-Pierre-d'Irube in the west. The municipalities include Labarthe , Vieux Mouguerre , Galhartiry , Istiart-Alçou , Ourterry-Egurralde and Petit Mouguerre .
The A64 autoroute runs through the municipality .
