Bidart ( Basque Bidarte ) is a French municipality with 6811 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Pyrénées-Atlantiques in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . It is located in the Bayonne arrondissement and is part of the canton of Saint-Jean-de-Luz . The inhabitants are called Bidartar .

geography

Bidart is part of the historic Basque province of Labourd and lies on the Uhabia River , which flows into the Bay of Biscay here . Bidart is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Biarritz in the north, Arbonne in the east, Ahetze in the southeast, Saint-Jean-de-Luz in the south and Guéthary in the southwest.

The former Route nationale 10 and the Autoroute A63 lead through the municipality from Bordeaux via Bayonne to San Sebastian .
