Winner of the Actor Award, which from 1955 to 1975 chose the best actor of the year in a French film production. The set of rules protected against an actor being awarded more than once. The Étoile de Cristal is considered to be the forerunner of the 1976 César national film award , which annually awards prizes in the categories of best leading actor ( Meilleur acteur ), supporting actor ( Meilleure acteur dans un second rôle ) and young actor ( Meilleur jeune espoir masculin ).
