Éva Dónusz

Éva Dónusz (born September 29, 1967 in Vác ) is a former Hungarian canoeist . She won 2 Olympic medals and 13 world championship medals.

Career

Éva Dónusz won her first international medal at the 1989 World Championships when she and Erika Mészáros fought for the silver medal behind Anke Nothnagel and Heike Singer from the GDR in a two-man kayak over 500 meters . The following year, Dónusz received three silver medals at the World Championships in Poznan . In the two, she and Erika Mészáros took second place both over 500 meters and over 5000 meters behind Ramona Portwich and Anke von Seck, as Anke Nothnagel was called after her marriage. In a four-person kayakThe boat from the GDR with Portwich and von Seck won over 500 meters in front of the Hungarian four with Éva Dónusz, Henriette Huber , Rita Kőbán and Erika Mészáros. In 1991 in Paris , Dónusz and Mészáros took second place over 500 meters behind Portwich and von Seck, who are now competing for the reunified Germany. In 1994 at the World Championships in Mexico City , the 5000 meter competitions were no longer on the program, instead three competitions over 200 meters were included. Dónusz competed in a foursome on both distances. Over 200 meters, Éva Laky , Éva Dónusz, Szilvia Mednyánszky and Rita Kőbán won the title ahead of the Germans and Canadians, over 500 meters the Germans won ahead of Dónusz, Kinga Czigány, Kőbán and Mednyánszky. In 1995 in Duisburg , Dónusz, Czigány, Kőbán and Mednyánszky received the bronze medal over 500 meters behind the Germans and the Chinese.

At the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta , the Hungarian four-man competed with Mednyánszky, Dónusz, Mészáros and Czigány and finished in ninth place. Two years later, Éva Dónusz won the bronze medal in a single kayak over 200 meters behind the Canadian Caroline Brunet and the Italian Josefa Idem at the 1998 World Championships in front of a home crowd in Szeged . Dónusz won her last international medal together with Èva Laky at the 1999 World Championships as third in a two-man kayak over 200 meters.
