Oedön Mihalovich

Ödön Péter József von Mihalovich [ ˈødøn ˈmihɒlovitʃ ] (born September 13, 1842 in Fericsánci , Croatia-Slavonia , today Feričanci , Osijek-Baranja County , Croatia ; † April 22, 1929 in Budapest ) was a Hungarian composer .

Mihalovich studied in Budapest with Mihály Mosonyi and in Leipzig with Moritz Hauptmann . In Munich , where he took lessons from Peter Cornelius , he met Richard Wagner , under whose impression he founded a Richard Wagner society in Budapest. From 1886 to 1919 he headed the State Music Academy.

He composed four symphonies and several symphonic poems , orchestral overtures and a piano concerto, six operas , choral works and songs .
