The Austrian Tourist Association (ÖTV) is an alpine association in Austria . He operates 3 alpine shelters , the largest of which is the Albert-Appel-Haus in the Dead Mountains in Styria . The other two huts are in Lower Austria; the Herrgottschnitzer - Franz Kaupe House , east of the Kampstein at 1318  m above sea level in the Bucklige Welt and the Dr. Ferdinand Nagl House , a self-catering hut on the Hohe Wand .

The ÖTV is a member of the Austrian Mountaineering Association (ÖBV), which in turn is a member of the Association of Alpine Clubs in Austria .

The club newspaper bears the title of tourist .

history

The association was founded in 1908 as the Christian Workers' Tourist Association (CATV) and later also bundled the nature conservation movement of the Christian Social Party . After the Second World War it got its current name. The first chairman was the Viennese workers and mountain guide Albert Appel . Edith Hammermüller is the chairwoman. In 2008 the association celebrated its 100th anniversary.
