Øvre Telemark (Eng. "Obertelemark") is a landscape in Norway . It comprises the larger, north-western part of the Fylkes Vestfold og Telemark (historically called Bradsberg or Bratsberg), i. H. traditionally the municipalities of Vinje , Tokke , Seljord , Fyresdal , Kviteseid , Nissedal , Tinn and Hjartdal , today often also Midt-Telemark and Nome . Traditionally, more than two thirds of Telemarks (over 10,000 km²) belong to Øvre Telemark. According to a more recent definition, Øvre Telemark covers more than 80% of Telemark's area or more than 12,000 km².

Øvre Telemark has a diverse and often picturesque landscape with many mountains, valleys and lakes. Øvre Telemark is also known for its cultural traditions. The dialects in Øvre Telemark are among the Norwegian dialects that have retained the most traces of Old Norse .

While Nedre Telemark (" Lower Telemark ") - consisting of Grenland and Vestmar - was traditionally dominated on the coast by the citizens of the cities, Øvre Telemark was dominated by an "official aristocracy" for centuries.
