The vehicles of the ČD series 660 are electric multiple units of the Czech railway company České dráhy (ČD) for national long-distance traffic. They correspond to the type 7Ev from the Czech manufacturer Škoda . They are marketed as InterPanters by the manufacturer and ČD .
history
In long-distance transport within the Czech Republic on the electrified main lines, all express trains have so far been driven with locomotive-hauled trains, most of which are from the 1970s. To replace these obsolete trains, the ČD started thinking about acquiring new multiple units after 2000 . Initially, it was planned to purchase class 675 double-decker railcars , which were to be based on class 471 trains . Financial reasons prevented the realization.
In August 2014, ČD and Škoda signed a contract for the delivery of 14 single-story electric multiple units with a total value of 2.6 billion kroner , which are based on the design of the tried and tested 7Ev “RegioPanter” trains (ČD series 440, 640 and 650). Ten trains are to be configured in five parts with 350 seats and four trains in three parts with 200 seats. The vehicles were delivered in 2015 and 2016.
On June 25, 2015, the new train was presented to the public at a press conference on the Velim test ring . ČD and Škoda named the train “InterPanter” there. This name was selected from 5097 suggestions that were submitted to a competition. The winner and nine other participants with the best-placed proposals were awarded a network ticket for one year by ČD for their participation.
On November 4, 2015, the scheduled use of two five-car units on the R 13 Olomouc - Přerov - Otrokovice - Břeclav - Brno line began . Since January 27, 2016, trains have also been running on the R 19 line Praha - Pardubice - Česká Třebová - Svitavy - Blansko - Brno .
According to an announcement in April 2016, the trains are to be equipped with ETCS .
