The steam locomotive series kkStB 760 was a freight train - and passenger - Tender Locomotive series of kkStB , originally the State Railway Company were (StEG) and were taken from there.

The StEG started several tests on 1C locomotives around 1900 , which should be suitable for both freight and passenger train service. The superheated steam engines manufactured afterwards from 1906 to 1909 by the StEG locomotive factory were marked as series 38.0 with the numbers 38.01 to 38.43 and after the nationalization and takeover by the kk Österreichische Staatsbahnen in 1909 they were re- designated as series 760.

After the First World War , the series was completely assigned to the ČSD , which designated it as  344.1 and was in use until the 1960s .
