The steam locomotive series ATE Ie was a passenger train - steam locomotive with a tender of the Aussig-Teplitzer Eisenbahn (ATE).

history

For operation on its steeply sloping routes, ATE also required extremely powerful locomotives for passenger train service. In 1908, ATE ordered two triple-coupled tender locomotives from the First Bohemian-Moravian Machine Factory in Prague .

The locomotives carried 400 t at 35 km / h over a 10 ‰ gradient. Since these locomotives were up to their tasks in passenger train traffic, it was not necessary to purchase additional 1'C1 'locomotives of the ATE If series  . Instead, eight more copies of the simpler and cheaper series Ie were put into service from 1910 to 1914 , which differed from the first two machines by a modified form of the Kobel chimney.

After the nationalization of ATE (1924), the Czechoslovak State Railways ČSD gave them the new series designation  344.6 .
