The vehicles of the ČSD series 433.0 were four- coupled tank locomotives of the Czechoslovak State Railways (ČSD).
history
After the Second World War, there was a great need for new locomotives in Czechoslovakia to compensate for the vehicle losses caused by the war. For service on the branch lines, ČKD developed a four-coupled tank locomotive in Prague , which with its axle mass of only 13 t could be used in the branch network without restrictions. The design of the new locomotive was based on the tried and tested 423.0 series .
The first locomotive 433.001 was completed in March 1948. On March 2, 1948, she completed her inspection drive from Praha- Vršovice to Říčany . By November 30, 1948, all 60 locomotives ordered had been delivered.
The locomotives were used in Moravia on the routes between Prostějov , Chornice , Skalice nad Svitavou and Třebovice v Čechách . They were used by the ČSD until the end of steam traction, and it was not until 1980 that the last locomotive was decommissioned.
Six examples of the 433.0 series have been preserved as museum locomotives:
- 433.001 in Brno (ČD museum locomotive; operational)
- 433.002 in Valašské Meziříčí (exhibit from the National Technical Museum in Prague ; operational)
- 433.014 in the Zlonice Railway Museum (in a badly devastated condition)
- 433,015 in the Zubrnice Railway Museum ; inoperable
- 433.023 in Vrútky ( ZSSK museum locomotive ; operational)
- 433,049 in the Lužná u Rakovníka Railway Museum , not operational
