The Čair Hall or Hala Čair ( Serbian - Cyrillic Хала Чаир ) - commonly known as Čair [ tschair ] - is a multipurpose hall in the southeast Serbian city of Niš , the country's third largest city. It is part of the Sportski centar Čair , which also includes the čair stadium , a swimming pool , a swimming pool , a hotel and two more halls and other sports facilities include. The circular building is located about 1.5 kilometers east of the city center of Niš on the edge of the Čair city park. In addition to basketball , volleyball and handball games , concerts are also regularly held in the hall.
history
After the Čair Stadium was opened in 1963, the need for a sports hall also grew . This was built in 1974. In 2009, games of the U17 women's handball European championship were played here. After the European men's handball championship in 2012 was awarded to Serbia in 2008, the Ćair hall was also designated as a venue. A comprehensive modernization of the hall then began, which was completed in October 2011. As part of the renovation work, the seating capacity at sporting events was increased by 500 to 5000, and new air conditioning and lighting were installed. The changing rooms were also renewed and medical facilities were integrated.
