Grant McCune

Grant McCune (born March 27, 1943 in Los Angeles , California , † December 27, 2010 in Hidden Hills , California) was an American film technician who specialized in visual effects .

Life

In the 1960s, McCune studied biology at California State University, Northridge . His career in film began in 1974, following an artificial shark for Steven Spielberg's Jaws modeled. He later made other models, such as spaceships for Star Trek: The Movie .

For his first film, Star Wars , in which he also had a brief cameo, he won an Oscar for Best Visual Effects .

In total, McCune produced visual effects for more than thirty films. He founded his own company, Grant McCune Design , which was involved in film projects such as Speed and Batman Forever .

McCune died on December 27, 2010 of pancreatic cancer . He left a wife and two children.
