İsmail Şahmalı (born January 4, 1982 in Adana ) is a Turkish football goalkeeper who is under contract with Adana Demirspor .

Career

Şahmalı began his goalkeeping career at the age of fourteen in the youth of Adana Telekomspor and moved to the youth of Oba Belediyespor in 2001 .

At the beginning of 2003 he switched to the fourth division Alanyaspor as a professional player and was here without being used for one and a half seasons as the third goalkeeper in the team. With his team he finished the 2003/04 season as champions of the TFF 3rd Lig and rose to the TFF 2nd Lig .

Şahmalı left Alanyaspor for the upcoming season and moved to the fourth division side Sidespor . Here he was used more often in his three years of activity and was even first goalkeeper at times.

In the summer of 2007 he moved to the fourth division Denizli Belediyespor . Here he immediately established himself as a regular goalkeeper and rose with his team as champions of the TFF 3rd Lig in the TFF 2nd Lig. The following season 2008/09, his club fought for a long time for promotion to the TFF 1st Lig and just missed it.

For the 2009/10 season he was hired by the then first division club Denizlispor and was only on the bench with the exception of one first division game.

The next season he was given to third division club Tarsus İdman Yurdu . After one season, however, he returned to the now second-rate Denizlispor. After just one season he moved within the league to the newcomer Ankaraspor . Since Ankaraspor was not promoted to the Süper Lig due to their playoff defeat , Şahmalı returned to Denizlispor in the summer break of 2014.
