The hanging valley Waksmunder Murmeltiertal ( Polish : Świstówka Waksmundzka , also Zbójnicka Dolinka ), formed by glaciers in the Ice Age , is located west of the Waksmunder valley , which is in turn a side valley of the Bialka valley , in the Polish High Tatras in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship . It lies below between the peaks of the Great ( Wielka ) and the Little Breitkogel ( Mala Koszysta ).
geography
The valley is almost a kilometer long and surrounded by mountains over 2100 meters high, in particular the Walachenköpfe ( Wołoszyn ) massif .
etymology
The name is derived from the numerous marmots (Polish: świstak) that occur here. The alternative name Zbójnicka Dolinka can be translated as robber valley.
Flora and fauna
The valley lies above the tree line. The valley is a refuge for chamois and marmots.

There is a high mountain climate in the valley.

As a strict nature reserve, the valley is closed to tourism.
