Şenol Akkılıç (born September 9, 1965 in Pülümür ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ , Greens until 2015 ) and youth worker of Turkish origin. Akkılıç was a member of the Vienna State Parliament and a member of the Vienna City Council from 2010 to 2015 .

education and profession

From 1979 to 1983, Akkılıç attended secondary school in Märzstraße in the 14th district of Penzing in Vienna and then worked as a worker from 1983 to 1994. He then worked for the Vienna Integration Fund from 1995 to 1998 and passed the university entrance qualification test in 1995 . Between 1998 and 2010 he worked for the Association of Vienna Youth Centers as a youth worker and also studied political science at the University of Vienna from 2007 to 2010 , where he obtained the academic degree BA .

Politics and functions

Akkılıç worked with the Vienna Greens since 1985 and was active as a district councilor in Vienna's 10th district of Favoriten from 2001 to 2004 . Within the party, he was active as a member of the district conference of the Vienna Greens and ran for the Vienna Greens in the state and municipal council elections in 2010 . As a result, Akkılıç was sworn in as a member of the state parliament or municipal council on November 25, 2010 and at the same time took over the function of area spokesman for integration and youth within the Green Town Hall Club. Furthermore, since joining the Vienna City Council, he has been a member of the Board of Trustees of Vienna Youth Housing Houses and Chairman of the Committee for Integration, Women's Issues, Consumer Protection and Personnel of the Vienna City Council. According to his own statements, his political priorities are in the areas of integration, youth and social affairs.

In addition to his political functions, Akkılıç was elected Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the Association of Rettet das Kind, Regional Association Vienna, in March 2011. He has been the deputy chairwoman of the Vienna Youth Centers Association since May 2011 and was Deputy Chairman of the wienXtra association from November 2011 to March 2015, a young city program promoting children, young people and families.

At the end of March 2015, in the run-up to the Vienna state and municipal council elections in 2015 , he surprisingly announced his move from the Greens to their coalition partner in the city government, the Vienna SPÖ. As a reason it was rumored that he should get a place on the state list of the SPÖ, which would ensure re-entry into the municipal council after the election, which was not the case with the Greens. The move also caused criticism from the Greens, as well as the FPÖ and ÖVP opposition in Vienna's municipal council , because the joint majority of the Greens, FPÖ and ÖVP for the desired reform of the Viennese electoral law was lost (previously a total of 51 versus 49 SPÖ mandataries ).

Private

Akkılıç lives in a community and is the father of two children.
