(10079) Meunier is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 2 December 1989 by the Belgian astronomer Eric Walter Elst at the La Silla Observatory ( IAU code 809) of the European Southern Observatory in Chile was discovered.

The asteroid was named after the Belgian painter and sculptor Constantin Meunier (1831–1905), who belongs to the style of naturalism . The main theme of his work is the representation of working people, which was then continued in the 20th century in socialist realism .
