(1142) Aetolia is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on January 24, 1930 by the German astronomer Karl Wilhelm Reinmuth at the Heidelberg-Königstuhl State Observatory at the University of Heidelberg .

The name is derived from the ancient central Greek region of Aetolia (now Aetolia-Acarnania ).
