(1148) Rarahu is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on July 5, 1929 by the Russian astronomer Alexander Nikolajewitsch Deitsch at the Crimean Observatory in Simejis .

The name of the asteroid is a Tahitian female given name, which was taken from Pierre Loti's novel Rarahu - later reprinted as Le mariage de Loti .
