(11524) Pleyel is an asteroid of the main belt , the August 2, 1991 by the Belgian astronomer Eric Walter Elst at the La Silla Observatory ( IAU code 809) of the European Southern Observatory in Chile was discovered.

The asteroid was named on July 26, 2000 after the Austrian composer and piano maker Ignaz Josef Pleyel (1757–1831) who founded the Pleyel, Wolff et Comp. Piano factory in Paris in 1807 . founded, which produced until 2013.
