(1156) Kira is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on February 22, 1928 by the German astronomer Karl Wilhelm Reinmuth at the Heidelberg-Königstuhl State Observatory at the University of Heidelberg .

The name of the asteroid was suggested by the German astronomer Max Mündler .
