(1253) Frisia is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on October 9, 1931 by the German astronomer Karl Wilhelm Reinmuth in Heidelberg .
The asteroid is named after the presumed Latin name of Friesland as well as the tribal tribe of the Frisians .
