(1384) Kniertje is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on September 9, 1934 by the Dutch astronomer Hendrik van Gent in Johannesburg .
The asteroid is named after the main character from the drama Op hoop van zegen by the Dutch journalist and playwright Herman Heijermans .
