(14094) Garneau is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 28 July 1997 by astronomers at the Space Watch -project at Kitt Peak National Observatory ( IAU code in 695) Arizona was discovered.
The asteroid is a member of the Koronis family, a group of asteroids named after (158) Koronis.
(14094) Garneau was named on June 14, 2003 after the Canadian astronaut Marc Garneau (* 1949), who was the first Canadian to fly into space and who took part in a total of three missions with the space shuttle between 1984 and 2000 ( STS-41-G , STS-77 , STS-97 ). Since 2006 he has been active in politics for the Liberal Party of Canada , for which he was able to move into the Canadian lower house in 2008.
