(15732) Vitus Bering is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 15 November 1990 by Eric Walter Elst at the European Southern Observatory was discovered.

It was named in honor of the Danish explorer Vitus Bering , who explored the passage between Europe and America ( Bering Strait ) in Russian services .
