(15913) Telemachus was discovered on October 1, 1997 during the Uppsala-DLR Trojan Survey at the European Southern Observatory . It is assigned to the Lagrangian point L 4 .
The asteroid is named after the mythological figure of Telemachus , the son of Odysseus .
