(1726) Hoffmeister is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on July 24, 1933 by the German astronomer Karl Wilhelm Reinmuth at the Heidelberg-Königstuhl State Observatory at the University of Heidelberg .

The asteroid is named after the German astronomer Cuno Hoffmeister .
