(1850) Kohoutek is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 23 March 1942 by the German astronomer Karl Wilhelm Reinmuth at Heidelberg State Observatory King chair of the University of Heidelberg was discovered.

The asteroid was named in honor of the Czech astronomer Luboš Kohoutek .
