(1878) Hughes is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 18 August 1933 by Belgian astronomer Eugène Joseph Delporte in Ukkel was discovered.
The asteroid is named after the son of Mireille Demiddelaer , a granddaughter of the discoverer.
