(1905) Ambartsumian ( 1972 JZ , 1932 FC ; 1952 HO 3 , 1959 QD ; 1962 JX , 1969 PF ; 1976 SS 5 ) is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 14. March 1972 by Tamara Mikhaylovna Smirnova in the Crimean Astrophysical Observatory was discovered .
The asteroid was named after the Armenian astrophysicist and astronomer Viktor Hambarzumjan (1908–1996).
