(2651) Karen is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 28 August 1949 by the South African astronomer Ernest Leonard Johnson , from the Union Observatory in Johannesburg , was discovered off.
The asteroid is named after Karen S. Mayer , a sister-in-law, and after Karen S. Franz , a friend of FN Bowman .
