(2679) Kittisvaara is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 7 October 1939 by the Finnish astronomer Yrjö Väisälä at Turku was discovered.

The name of the asteroid is reminiscent of the Finnish mountain Kittisvaara , one of the places Pierre Louis Maupertuis used to determine the longitude of a longitude.
