(3745) Petaev is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 23 September 1949 by the German astronomer Karl Wilhelm Reinmuth in Heidelberg was discovered.

The asteroid was named after Michail Ivanovich Petaev, a geologist at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics.
