(4032) Chalpygin is an asteroid in the main belt that was discovered on October 22, 1985 by Lyudmyla Shuravlowa at the Crimean Observatory .

The asteroid was named after the Soviet physicist Sergei Alexejewitsch Tschaplygin (English transcription Chaplygin ).
