(4047) Chang'e is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 8 October 1964 at the Purple Mountain Observatory ( IAU code 330) in Nanjing was discovered.
The name of the asteroid was chosen on January 22, 2008 based on the Chinese moon goddess Chang'e .
