The amateur astronomer Bernhard Häusler discovered the main belt asteroid (410928) Maidbronn on September 28, 2009 on his balcony observatory with the IAU code B82 Maidbronn. The property was given the provisional name 2009 ST 242 and was linked by the MPC (Minor Planet Center) to the 2006 BN60 property. On October 8, 2014 the object was assigned the number 410928 and the discoverer was determined. On January 5, 2015, at the suggestion of Häusler, the asteroid was named its hometown Maidbronn .
