(4142) Dersu-Uzala is a main belt asteroid crossing Mars orbit , which was discovered on May 28, 1981 by the Czech astronomer Zdeňka Vávrová at the Kleť Observatory in the Czech Republic.

The asteroid was named after the Nanai ranger Dersu Usala , made famous by Vladimir Arsenjev's travelogue Dersu Usala, the taiga hunter and Akira Kurosawa's film Dersu Uzala based on it.
