(4216) Neunkirchen is a main belt asteroid discovered on January 14, 1988 by Henri Debehogne from the La Silla Observatory .

The asteroid is named after the city of Neunkirchen in Austria. Neunkirchen is the birthplace of the two Austrian astronomers Hermann F. Haupt and Gerhard Hahn .
